VEX Robotics Club
VEX Robotics team reviews the current VEX challenge, and then start designing their robot. They build their design and test it out several times. The team attends several competitions. Depending on the outcome, they could advance to a state competition or even VEX Robotics World Championship.
Being on a VEX team is a commitment. The team needs to meet at least twice each week after school to design, build, test, rework, and get ready for competitions. They might even meet more than twice a week as they get close to a competition day. They attend at least one competition, which will be on a weekend and it will most likely last all day. Students are responsible for transportation costs to participate in competitions. The VEX team CANNOT have members who do not attend the weekly practices because the team needs everyone contributing to their engineering design process so that they can be successful.
On Sunday, November 24, 2019, nineteen high school teams participated in the VEX Robotics Tournament held at Baltimore Robotics Center . CMIT Academy High School Robotics Team (Golden Tigers) placed 2nd overall and were announced “tournament finalist.”. This qualifies the team to compete in the 2020 Maryland VRC High School State Championship – Tower Takeover! Congratulations to all the participants on their efforts, results, and continued opportunity to represent CMIT Academy HS and Prince George’s County Public Schools at the 2020 Maryland VRC High School State Championship – Tower Takeover.
